Passion runs deep in my family. My dad had a real love for cars from all the different models to the history of the makers. My mom on the other hand has a love for anything horror and will go on about the great stories that fill her scary heart. For me though it was always comedy, I loved anything that had a crude joke or someone falling down. Since I first discovered Comedy Central I immediately knew I was hooked. As I aged and became a different person so did my passions. I started to love music more everyday and develop a deep appreciation for writing. I realized I liked all these things because they were all creative expressions of people.
I started to attend college so I can figure out what I can do with my love for imagination and creativity. I hope one day to be able to write fiction that I truly enjoy because I think readers enjoy stories more when the writer truly cares about the work. Practicing my story telling has become a common thing for me now. I like to see my friends read my stuff and tell me if they think it's good. It was difficult at first but it is hard to really judge yourself accurately.
My work would mostly be for entertainment purposes but if my writing became more serious and in depth it actually might inspire some people. The idea of that gives me the chills. Even if it was just. purely for people to just enjoy that would be pretty amazing too. People all over the world reading my work and liking it. I could be the writer people want look up to like I look up to Stephen King or George Orwell. I could be great if I tried.
She Gives Passion
I met a girl a today
I didn't what to say
So I opened my mouth
My words like clay
Molding the person I portray
My brain fills with doubt.
Love today but what about tomorrow
Happiness now but fear of sorrow.
I look out at the horizon
and ask to no longer be held back
by my inner shackles.
I ask to be let free
to live my life with love
and without hassle.
I look at her eyes and see passion
I am no longer distracted.
I see the path
and I walk it.
The future is off to the distance,
I stick to the path and hope I don't miss it.
James,
ReplyDeleteGood post. I didn't know that you want to be a fiction writer. This class is a great place for you to practice, and as we start to write about the future, which will require some imagination and humor, I'd like you to really ramp up your output (write more).
If you want to be a writer, start now. Writing requires an intense amount of discipline, re-writing, editing... but writing without restraint... daily.
Start now. Start next week. Because it still seems like you're holding back a little bit. There's still a hesitation to your efforts. You've got such interesting things to write about, but you seem to keep your ideas and your words to a minimum.
Go for it. Write more. See if you could write. I bet it would be inspiring.
